| So it's been a while... hope I didn't leave anyone hanging. Although I think everyone who reads this talks to me anyways, or sees my updates other places.
So AMTC turned out to be... meh... I guess... a bust? I mean it was a great experience and got to rub elbows with the elite... but... no call backs or prizes for me. It was puzzling to everyone... just... I dunno doesn't make sense. I don't want to brag or anything, but I think I'm a fairly good actress/singer... guess I just didn't have anything to horribly different or special.
... Damnit. Just found out the video form in order to get DVD's of the performances has gone offline. >.< Urg... -writes the company-
Anyways in other news... Scales and Crosstones has a facebook page. Wtf is Scales and Crosstones you might ask? Well you might remember a post from 2 years ago about the PA ren faire, where I and some friends went and sang just for fun, and ended up going on the main stage at the end of the day. Well now, finally, 2 years later... we're getting serious. Pictures, resumes, recordings, the works. In fact we're recording some of our stuff later today. Just look us up on Facebook under "Scales and Crosstones" and fan us! If you're in the MD, DC, PA, or VA area and are hosting (or know someone who is) some type of piratey event, we would love to come and sing for you.
In other, other news... I'm going to dragon*con again this year. Totally different crew of people this time though, mostly guys. It's going to be epic. But right now I'm sewing my butt off to get everyone's costumes done. So I better get back to that.

| So... I'm leaving... from the 30th of June, till the 9th of July. -pretends that you asked why- Because I have a huge acting, singing, and modeling competition in Florida... that's why.
Look up AMTC for more details. I'm competing in...

| So I'm 21 years old and I had never been to a rock concert in my life. Sad? Just a little. Sure I've been to countless musicals, plays, orchestras, operas, Celtic acustic concerts, and even been in a few choral concerts... but an actual "the music is so good and loud that it's vibrating my insides" concert? nope.
So when I heard of DC101's Shamrock Fest and heard it was going to have 50 bands, and a ton of stuff to do, and drinking, and partying, and a DJ tent, and just... you know... fun stuff I thought "hm.. maybe I aught to go to that." Then when I heard that my favorite band of all time (and coincidentaly the very first rock band I started to listen to) was going to be playing there, I knew I had to go. When I found out the tickets were only going to be $20 that was even more of a bonus. After all... drinks, food, rides, vendors, games, music, raving, that HAD to be worth the $20 even if you had to pay a little extra to go on the rides or get the food and drinks.
So I got my boyfriend and I some regular admission passes, and on Saturday March 14th we went to Shahrock Fest. First off... it was cold... very cold... WAY colder then either of us thought it was going to be... and neither of us were prepared. Then it started to rain... yes rain... not drizzle... RAIN. Typical... someone puts on an Irish or Scottish festival... and it rains. All the performers were under cover... so everything was still going... but there was no DJ tent to go dance and warm up in... just a DJ stage with a little grassy patch in front of it... oh and it was hip hop music most of the time. Oh but yeah we waited in line for an hour before we even got it... and this thing didn't even start till 1 in the afternoon, and we had to leave no later then 8 because I had to go to work after. Yes I went to a drinking festival knowing full well that afterwords I had to go work.
Anyways, rain etc aside... the food was waaaaaaay overpriced... and not all that great... the ribbon fries were seriously lacking... and it was so cold our food got cold before we could finish it. Oh and the rides were 4 bucks a peice. That's highway robbery right there... not even faires charge that much. Games were lousy, and there we're probably only about 20 vendors total... and that includes the people who were just trying to advertise stuff, not sell it.
I did try the oxogyn bar out.... that was pretty cool... not worth $8... but seriously... flavored air? Pretty cool. As one guy said as he walked by us "is that air better then the free air out here?" Actually it was... it was more pure, more refreshing... and dude... it was mint and lemon flavored... but still not worth the $8.
Oh and the event was sponsored by Budwiser... wtf... why... on ... earth... would ANYONE drink that $#!+?????? My boy and I split a cup, and omg it tasted like wheat had peed into a glass. I wanted to sing that one song from Sweeny Todd* it was so bad. If you drink that swill and like it... I lose all respect for you... THERE ARE BETTER WAYS TO GET DRUNK PEOPLE! Oh and it was way too expensive as well.
Well we battered our way through the rain and the wind and the cold to get to the far stage where Carbon Leaf was going to play, and we pushed our way through the crowd so I could get closer to the stage... man... people are really tall... I could bearly see a thing... but oh well... the band right before them was amazingly good as well, but I don't know who they were... but anyways... they came out and started playing, and it was just... wow... I nearly died from happiness. My experience was dampened though by the surrounding drunks, and by this really tall guy who didn't realize how big and tall he was, and didn't realize that every time he jumped and danced... he was kocking people over. Oh his elbow was right at my face... so that should give you an idea on how tall this guy was. Anyways... a mosh pit started right in front of us, and people were pushing and shoving and beer was spilled everywhere.
So... final verdict... Shamrock fest... if this year was any indication of years previous and future... NOT WORTH IT. Unless you like to drink Budwiser and get the VIP pass it is just... not worth it... HOWEVER... Carbon Leaf ROCKS!!!!!!! Look them up! You will like them! And find a conert near you to go hear them! They are just... omg I love them so much! It was way awesome to see them live. ^^ So my $20 in the end was well spent just to see them play.
So there you go... my first rock concert.

| Soooo... lets seeeee what's been going on lately...
Well i have a job... I probably mentioned that... it's at Jo-ann Fabrics... prolly mentioned that too... Anyways it's going fairly well. Most of the staff realizes I'm very capable, and most of the time they send customers my way who need tips and tricks on sewing projects etc. On our most recent major sale day I had customers switch place in line just so I could cut their fabric because I was "fast and accurate". And one lady insisted on giving me a lollipop after making me get her 16 yards of fabric, do a special order for 21 more, then cancel the special order and get her 14 yards of fabric instead.
Unfortunately I also have an somewhat challenging main manager. She's challenging for everyone, and not just me I found out... which is good to know... because for a while I thought she had something against just me... switched dress codes so I can't wear hats, or vest anymore with the boring uniforms. No more navy blue pants which cuts down on my things to wear to work considerably. Also she keeps scheduling me to work when I specifically asked not to. And it's not just like she missed my slip asking for time off... it's like I tell her specifically I need the time off. I fill out the slip and show it to her, and then I get her word that she'll give me the time off. I come back in... and I'm scheduled for that entire week... -sighs-
Mah Sammich boy and I have been doing wonderfully. Mom and Dad took us out to dinner on Valentine's day. No for you non conservatives I don't expect you to understand "courting" or how great it is for my parents to even agree to do that... anyways... Mom and Dad reeaaaally like him, and they like the fact that I like him. Dad is taking him to breakfast on Saturday to talk "man to man" about the future. -eeps!- Funny thing though. I asked mom if I could go visit some people in another part of the state on Saturday afternoon, and she asked me with a tinge of dissapointment if I wasn't going to spend time with my boy instead. So I got to my second part of the questions which was if he could come with me, and she heartily agreed... after teasing me that we would be alone in the car for an hour together. So... yay! Good signs all around!
Another major thing going on for me is AMTC. Actors, Models, and Talent for Christ Convention. It used to not have the "Christ" in there, but the already very moral company recently publicaly when Christian, and they got great response from it. Pretty cool. Anyways twice a year they hold a major convention/competition for raw and practiced talent of all kinds. You have to audition to even get to the convention. It's a little like American Idol, only no one is made fun of, and instead of just one person winning and making it big... everyone who makes it to the convention is seen and heard by major talent scouts, agents, casting directors, etc. You're also able to speak directly with them and even given a chance to convince them you should work with them if you don't recieve over 6 calls backs by the end of the week. 6! By the end of the week! Apperently you're expected to get many more then that while at the convention, and possibly even more after you leave.
So why am I blathering on about this thing? Well I auditioned, and have been accepted into the competition. Singing, and Acting. Possibly commercial modeling and designing... and a very very slight chance I might dance too. It's... an amazing opportunity. Just... huge... and just... wow... never thought I would get the chance to do anything like this. My whole like people have told me that I have good raw talent for singing, acting, and dancing, and that I should work and develop it and try to make a living or ministry out of it. But I just didn't think it was practical. Well... here's the chance to actually try and do.
Few other things... I have a car... that's now broken down... getting it fixed though. I'm planning on attending Dragon*con again this year yay! I'm heading off to Williamsburg soon, and so I again have a million things to sew. So I guess I better get busy with that...

| So it's a week after I turned 21. Things have been pretty good. Mom and Dad took me to a show at the kennedy center... seeing a live show is quickly becoming a birthday tradition for me. For my birthday I've seen A Christmas Carol, Les Miserable, My Fair Lady, and now The Music of Andrew Loyd Webber. I have to say this compilation of his music was quite amazing, and makes me want to see many many more of his musicals.
The day after my Birthday was the holiday open house. The boy... let's call him Sammich ^^... met my parents, brothers, and friends, and everyone seemed to like him. So that's good... lets hope it continues to go well... I also on that day drank some pie. Ok... so like... most of you are now going "omg they make pie in liquid form now!? I have GOT to try that!" No... no no... it's a drink... I'm 21 now remember? Actually it's a very special drink reserved only for Dragon*con staff. I happen to know someone on staff, and he sent me some for my birthday. The stuff seriously tastes like apple pie.. and has no effect on me.. at least... far as I can tell... Anyways it's good stuff.
This past weekend I managed to get tipsy on some other stuffs at my "party" with friends. It was fun... I couldn't shut up... I mean... more then usual. I wasn't as snarky with alcohol in my system, and I tried to fix my mistakes... like when I said that Squirt's boy doesn't get effected by alcohol because he has substance... and patted him on the stomach... and then sputtered through trying to say that it's not like he's not attractive... but I couldn't get that word out, and it felt awkward saying it. I think in the end I said that he was snuggly... in any case... I still rock at glowsticks, even when I'm off balance.
